Julien Gobled is a graphic designer and artist. Co-founder of Atelier Kiosque, he lives and works in Le Havre.

At the same time, he is pursuing graphic research work, between illustration and graphic design. In his work Julien sets up processes, a sort of protocol made of rudimentary modules. Once these tools have been developed, it leaves room for experimentation, failures, luck, hesitation and movement.

“Cumulus” is a series of drawings composed according to a defined geometric system. Using different grid formats 5×6 (5 rows and 6 columns), 6×5 (6 rows and 5 columns), etc.,

Julien Gobled randomly arranges the points in the intersections of the grids and connects them together with curved lines. The exercise is repeated then the two objects are superimposed and give rise to a unique proposition.

The title of each drawing corresponds to the type of grid used and to the successive number of drawings made with this system.
